Our company has been developing and manufacturing advanced surgical technologies for over 35 years and has earned a strong reputation for excellence in the healthcare field. Our unique business model, combined with our dedication to delivering the highest quality products, enables team members to contribute in a larger capacity than is possible in typical positions.
Position Description
The CNC Stamping Machinist supports Applied Medical's manufacturing operations by setting up, operating, and maintaining high-speed Computer Numeric Control (CNC) stamping and punch press machines to produce precision components for advanced surgical technologies. Working within the Advanced Metals Processing department, this role contributes directly to Applied Medical's commitment to manufacturing excellence by ensuring parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with quality and safety standards. The CNC Stamping Machinist partners with production teams and supervisors to maintain workflow, troubleshoot issues, and identify opportunities for process improvement. Professionals with backgrounds in CNC stamping, punch press operation, progressive die stamping, precision machining, or metal press operation will find this role a strong fit.
Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and align dies, punches, and tooling fixtures in the press according to specification, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.
  • Manage tool changes and make offset adjustments to maintain accurate stamping processes, conducting routine inspections of tool and die condition and overall machine performance.
  • Interpret blueprint dimensions and engineering drawings accurately to manufacture metal stamped parts within specified tolerances and production requirements.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to verify that parts conform to blueprint specifications before full production runs.
  • Monitor production output for defects and errors, taking corrective action promptly to maintain quality standards and minimize material waste.
  • Adhere to machining policies, Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO standards, and all applicable safety guidelines, reporting and resolving non-compliance issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and cross-functional departments to maintain smooth workflow, share knowledge, and support continuous improvement efforts in stamping and punch press operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvement, contributing to ongoing efforts to reduce cycle times and minimize material waste.

Success in This Role Looks Like
  • Consistently producing precision metal stamped parts that meet blueprint specifications and quality standards with minimal defects or rework.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in CNC stamping machine and punch press setup and operation across a growing range of equipment with increasing independence over time.
  • Identifying and resolving common stamping and die setup issues quickly, keeping production running without unnecessary interruption.
  • Contributing to a safe, organized, and collaborative production environment where quality and efficiency are prioritized equally.
  • Proactively suggesting and implementing improvements to tool selection, die setup procedures, and stamping processes that reduce waste and improve output.
  • Building strong working relationships with colleagues and supervisors that support knowledge sharing and team-wide performance.

Position Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
  • Demonstrated ability to set up and operate CNC stamping machines and punch press equipment with precision and thoroughness to meet quality standards in a production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and manufacture metal stamped parts within specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Experience with die assembly, installation, and alignment, including progressive die stamping setup and tooling adjustment.
  • Proficiency in basic machine shop mathematics and the ability to perform calculations required for accurate stamping and punch press operation.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspection (FAI) using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to confirm part conformance.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and collaborate on problem-solving with team members and supervisors.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills with the ability to meet production schedules in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection, in compliance with applicable safety standards.

Preferred
The following skills and attributes are preferred:
  • Experience operating Bruderer high-speed stamping presses or Saga CNC stamping equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with progressive die stamping, punch press setup, or metal press operation in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Availability to work second shift, including flexible and extended hours and weekends as production schedules require.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to producing the highest quality finished components.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new stamping techniques, die setup processes, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in machining processes, stamping equipment, or production priorities.
