Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for creating mechanical and electrical pump station designs for submittals and shop packs. Manage custom pump station projects from order entry to shipment. This includes designs with centrifugal pumps, hydraulic valves, ASME Section 9 piping, AWS D1.1 skids and complete electrical design for system controls including Variable Frequency Drives and controls. This position will be responsible for the complete engineering of systems ranging in complexity from custom commercial to Fire Protection and Municipal Systems.

Essential Functions

  • Design custom pump station mechanical layouts based on customer requirements.
  • Design building layouts and design when required for selected pump stations.
  • Evaluate component selections provided by sales team for suitability in specified design.
  • Create 3D design model of project through SolidWorks.
  • Create 2D drawings of general arrangement, piping, skid, etc. from 3D model through SolidWorks.
  • Model new components and assemblies as required.
  • Create as-built drawings and operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Create and manage complete bill of materials for electrical and mechanical components.
  • Compile manufacturing drawings, notes, data sheets, and any additional required documents into shop pack.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 4+ years’ design experience or similar design experience in curricular work.
  • Competent user of SolidWorks or equivalent 3D design software.
  • Creativity and innovation skills.
  • Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to always comply with all safety guidelines.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and administer multiple projects and deadlines.
