Job description

Pump Mechanic Opportunity

Excellent contract-to-hire opportunity for a pump mechanic or pump mechanic trainee at an industry leading industrial pump manufacturer. This position is located in Shreveport, LA and is only open to local candidates at this time - no relocation is available. Positions available on both first and second shifts in a climate controlled shop environment. Shift differential for hours worked on second shift (6pm - 4:30am). Contract-to-hire opportunity.

Ideal candidates will have experience assembling/building, or repairing rotating equipment, perform a grinding on machined parts such as casings, be able to hydro-test or be willing to learn hydro-testing procedures, and have experience with impact tools and torque wrenches.

Assembly Experience:

  • 1-2 years overall mechanical / vehicle / pump repair experience (not installation)
  • Heavy assembly experience preferred
  • Experience at an OEM or significant pump repair shop, a plus
  • Must have a good set of basic hand tools

Mechanic:

  • 3-6 years overall pump repair experience (not installation)
  • Experience at an OEM or significant pump repair shop
  • Repair experience on API type pumps
  • Familiar with pump metallurgy fundamentals and rotating equipment operation clearances
  • Extensive experience performing repair and rebuild on horizontal multistage pumps
  • 2 years experience as Leadman in a pump repair setting is a plus
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments (analog mics, calipers, depth gauges, etc.)
  • Must have a good set of hand tools

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of lifting 50 - 75 lbs.
  • Able climb ladders
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Use a variety of hand tools, impact tools, torque wrenches

Additional Job Expectations:

  • Assist in other job duties as needed and required
  • Help keep work area clean
  • Be willing to assist technicians in other areas of the shop (i.e. Testing, shipping, etc.)
