Job description

Position: Mechanical Engineer HVAC

Location: Minneapolis, MN (hybrid) | Atlanta, GA (hybrid)


This position is related to pharmaceutical and other industrial projects including clean rooms to work in the US and international projects. Experience in this field is required.


Primary Responsibilities:

The Senior HVAC Engineer will lead the design and engineering of HVAC systems for controlled environments, including cleanrooms, laboratories, and high-containment facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring system performance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with client and project requirements through all project phasesโ€”from conceptual design to IFC package and construction support.


  • Lead the design of HVAC systems for ISO-classified cleanrooms, labs, and controlled environments (temperature, humidity, pressure, and particulate control).
  • Develop system concepts, PFDs, and P&IDs for air handling units, HEPA filtration, make-up air, chilled water, and exhaust systems.
  • Size and select air handling units (AHUs), fans, coils, ductwork, and controls.
  • Perform heat load calculations, air balance, and cleanroom classification studies using relevant standards (ISO 14644, ASHRAE, cGMP, FDA, USP, etc.).
  • Specify environmental monitoring systems, differential pressure controls, and contamination control strategies.
  • Coordinate cleanroom HVAC design with architecture, process, electrical, plumbing, and automation disciplines.


This position is expected to be at a level where the individual will be able to independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgment when making minor adaptations and modifications. Assistance would be given for unusual problems. Some travel may be required.


Minimum Academic & Professional Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, with mechanical emphasis.
  • Professional Engineering registration is preferred.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in HVAC design for industrial applications.
  • Applicable experience sectors may include Manufacturing, Pharma, Semi-conductors, and batteries. Petrochemical, Pulp & Paper, and/or Mining


KEY SKILLS: Viable candidate will be a flexible and dynamic team player capable of integrating into an international team. Individuals must have excellent written and oral communication skills, along with exceptionally good organizational and project documentation habits. Candidates must have excellent analytical skills and proficiency in ASHRAE std and mechanical codes and industry-standard HVAC programs or spreadsheets. AutoCAD or Revit experience is a plus. The ability to provide excellent customer service, work well in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate effective team-building skills is necessary. Spanish proficiency is a plus.
