Job description

Position Overview

Sina Health Pulmonology is seeking a qualified and certified Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) Technician to join our outpatient pulmonary practice in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling. The ideal candidate will have all required certifications to independently perform diagnostic pulmonary testing in accordance with ATS/ERS standards and state regulations.


Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform complete pulmonary function testing including:

    • Spirometry (pre/post bronchodilator)

    • Lung volumes

    • Diffusion capacity (DLCO)

    • Bronchoprovocation testing (if applicable)

    • Six-minute walk tests

  • Ensure compliance with ATS/ERS guidelines

  • Calibrate and maintain pulmonary diagnostic equipment

  • Review test quality and ensure reproducibility criteria are met

  • Upload and document results accurately in EMR

  • Educate patients on test procedures

  • Maintain infection control standards for equipment and testing areas

  • Coordinate with pulmonologists for timely interpretation


Required Certifications & Qualifications

Candidates must possess current and active credentials, including:

  • Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care
    OR

  • Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care

Preferred:

  • Active RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential

  • Current BLS certification

  • Minimum 1–2 years of outpatient pulmonary testing experience


Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of pulmonary physiology

  • Experience with digital PFT systems

  • High attention to technical detail and quality assurance

  • Professional bedside manner

  • Ability to work independently in a growing outpatient specialty clinic
