Publix Super Markets, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Director of Investments. This role provides strategic oversight of investment portfolios exceeding $17 billion (primarily in fixed income securities), directly influencing enterprise earnings. The Director of Investments partners closely with executive leadership and investment committees to ensure disciplined, risk‑aware investment management aligned with Publix’s values and long‑term vision. This position requires in-person office attendance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and thought leadership for Publix’s and Publix Charities’ investment portfolios.
  • Determine asset allocation and investment strategies and present recommendations to Investment Committees.
  • Lead Publix’s Investment Committee and Publix Charities’ Investment Committee; serve on the Publix 401(k) Investment Committee.
  • Monitor economic conditions, market trends, and financial indicators to inform investment decisions.
  • Monitor portfolio performance against benchmarks and ensure compliance with the Investment Management Program.
  • Conduct and oversee credit reviews; direct appropriate actions when needed.
  • Approve security purchases, including validation of pricing, credit analysis and broker sourcing.
  • Recommend updates to investment policies and present changes to investment committees as required.

Relationship Oversight

  • Evaluate, select, and monitor custodial banks, brokers, and other service providers.
  • Oversee Bloomberg usage for research, analytics, trading, and performance measurement.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and manage Investment Managers and Analysts.
  • Oversee workflows, performance evaluations, and professional development.
  • Foster a high‑performing, disciplined investment culture aligned with Publix values.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related analytical discipline.
  • 15+ years of direct investment experience managing equity and fixed‑income portfolios.
  • Extensive experience with asset allocation, portfolio construction, and investment risk management.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or equivalent.
  • Advanced proficiency with Bloomberg and strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to present complex investment concepts to senior leaders and committees.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, discretion, and ability to manage confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • 25+ years of direct investment experience.

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro‑rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
