What is a publishing production coordinator?

Publishing Production Coordinators are professionals who manage the logistics and workflow of bringing publications—such as books, magazines, or digital content—from manuscript to finished product. They coordinate between editors, designers, printers, and vendors to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget. Their responsibilities often include overseeing production schedules, quality control, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the production process. This role is essential for ensuring smooth and efficient publication while maintaining high production standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a publishing production coordinator?

To thrive as a Publishing Production Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in publishing or production management, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with project management software, Adobe Creative Suite, and content management systems (CMS) is typically required.
