Job description

Position: Staff Accountant
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Work Location: This position is potential for Hybrid after 60 Day Performance Review with 3 workday onsite in Norcross, GA 30093 and 2 remote days.
Job Summary:
bematrix is growing, and we’re looking for a skilled Staff Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, people-first environment. This role owns the billing-to-cash cycle, maintains accurate financial data, strengthens internal/external relationships, and supports our continued modernization of the finance function.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing, collections, and cash application processes, general ledger, reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial records, and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external partners. This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance with accounting regulations, and supporting leadership with timely reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the list below. Other duties may be assigned, as needed.
Billing, Collections amp; Cash Application
  • Process daily invoices, credit memos, cash receipts, and adjustments.
  • Monitor AR aging and proactively follow up on past-due accounts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Customer credit check processing
  • Maintain accurate customer account balances and ensure timely cash posting.
Reconciliations amp; Month-End Close
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and maintain accurate ledgers.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations (AR aging, credit cards, checks, and related accounts).
  • Prepare journal entries and support monthly close deadlines and assist with audits.
  • Research and resolve reconciling items promptly.
Reporting amp; Performance Tracking
  • Publish weekly AR performance metrics, translating data into dollar impacts and recommended actions.
  • Ensure reporting logic is documented and easily refreshed.
  • Provide relevant AR updates to leadership and cross-functional partners.
Cross-Functional Support
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external AR and other inquiries.
  • Support other accounting functions as needed (including AP during peak periods).
  • Assist with internal and external audits through schedules, documentation, and testing support.
  • Crosstrain colleagues to support team coverage and continuity.
Process Improvement amp; Systems
  • Identify and recommend workflow and control improvements.
  • Support ongoing modernization efforts across our accounting systems and processes.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal control requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
What You Should Bring:
Must-Haves
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • 1-5 years of accounting experience, including AR responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables).
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Proven problem-solving skills and a track record of taking initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (strongly preferred) or other ERP experience.
  • Experience supporting audits or working in a rapidly scaling organization.
