Description
The City of Stockbridge continues to strive to be the most progressive business and family-oriented community in Metropolitan Atlanta with a strong focus on enhanced quality of life initiatives which promotes a sustainable "Live, Works, Play Environment". The City of Stockbridge believes that people are the most valuable asset in delivering services to all citizens. Stockbridge is a diverse city of approximately 35,000 + residents located just 15 minutes south of Hartsfield -Jackson International Airport.
This position performs general maintenance, upkeep and repair of City property, including road surfaces, curbs, sidewalks, landscaping, grounds, buildings and other City property, as well as provide support for the set-up and break down of city events, council initiatives and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
• Checks maintains and cleans equipment, trucks, trailers and tools;
• Operates various power tools and equipment for maintenance and repair functions;
• Responsible for public facilities and ensure they are clean and maintained.
• Patches pot holes, lays concrete/asphalt and performs other tasks in street/sidewalk maintenance.
• Communicate with the public to resolve customer service concerns and issues.
• May perform landscaping upkeep tasks on City property.
• Responsible for the set-up and break down of chairs, tables, tents at all city and council events.
• Works as part of a team on municipal trash collection.
• Responsible for following proper operating procedures for all equipment to ensure safety of all members of the department, city staff and public.
• Maintain a customer service focus and work with city staff in a positive manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Required by the Position:
• Ability to communicate clearly and in a pleasant manner with the general public, elected officials and other City employees.
• Ability to comprehend and make inferences from material written, such as laws, rules, ordinances, regulations and procedures.
• Ability to adhere to safe equipment operating procedures and respond to certain situations
accordingly.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to coordinate the logistics of set-up and break-down of events.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of regulations pertaining to public assembly facilities, public safety rules and regulations and building regulations.
Physical Demands:
This work is generally performed indoors and outdoors and involves light to moderate lifting, standing, bending, crouching, carrying, pulling, kneeling, stooping and walking throughout City for extended periods of time.
Additional Requirements:
Background investigation, including pre-employment physical and drug screen, verification of employment, criminal record, and licenses are required prior to employment.
