Description
The Public Works Department of the City of Springfield is seeking motivated, hard-working applicants for an electrician position on our Building Maintenance team. This vacancy would perform Journeyman level HVAC work in the maintenance and repair of City Buildings.
The Public Works Department constructs and maintains the infrastructure of the City to satisfy community needs by providing engineering services, a safe transportation system, effective stormwater management, and public buildings and grounds.
This position will take you across Springfield to a variety of locations including Old City Hall, the Busch Municipal Building, and multiple City Departments, such as Health and Police. Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training
  • A minimum of three years responsible experience of which at least one year has been at the journeyman level in one of the following areas: carpentry, painting, roofing, masonry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, security engineering or cabinet making and finisher work.
  • Experience must be commensurate with building craft specialty required for current vacancy
    • For this vacancy, we are searching for electrician specializations

Licensing/Certification
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Electrical specialty assignments require at minimum a valid Class B CDL with airbrakes (to operate aerial boom truck) to be obtained within the probationary period.
  • EPA certification is required within six months of employment for HVAC specialty area.
  • Some assignments require incumbent to obtain Certification for Backflow Prevention within first year of employment.
