Job description

The Matamoras Municipal Authority is seeking a qualified Public Works Foreman to plan, organize, direct, and supervise the public works department. This position ensures the safe and effective maintenance of municipal infrastructure, streets, grounds, and storm water management. The ideal candidate will provide strong leadership to personnel while actively participating in daily operational and maintenance tasks.


Responsibilities

• Supervise department personnel on a daily basis, assigning duties and ensuring work meets high standards for completeness and safety

• Lead efforts for snow plowing, leaf collection, and responding to public inquiries or complaints regarding department policies

• Develop short- and long-range plans for municipal needs

• Document department expenses and manage the department’s assigned budget

• Oversee and assist with the maintenance and repair of Borough infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and traffic signs

• Ensure preventative maintenance and minor repairs are conducted on all Borough vehicles, equipment, and tools


Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record

• Must pass a drug screening, and background check

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs, and working near moving vehicles or in high places

• Four years of previous public works experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Proficiency in operating the tools and equipment necessary for public works tasks

• Considerable knowledge of street maintenance, general groundskeeping and storm drain repairs

• Basic computer skills for record-keeping

• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
