Summary:

The Public Relations Manager develops and executes strategic communication initiatives that strengthen Teachers brand and reputation. This role leads the Credit Union's public relations efforts by building strong media relationships, generating earned media opportunities, supporting executive communications, and developing issue management strategies. Working collaboratively across the organization, the Public Relations Manager identifies and amplifies stories that showcase Teachers growth, products, community impact, and organizational priorities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of eight years Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or directly related experience required.
  • Minimum five years of progressive Public Relations experience required.
  • Experience in the Financial Industry preferred.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong media relations and storytelling capabilities.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with media monitoring, social media, and communications platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes comprehensive public relations strategies that elevate Teachers brand, strengthen its reputation, and support organizational priorities.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with local, trade, and national media; proactively secure earned media coverage; and serves as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and interview coordination.
  • Drafts high-quality communications materials, including press releases, media advisories, executive messaging, talking points, award submissions, and issues management communications, ensuring all materials align with the credit union's voice and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership and business units to identify newsworthy stories, promote key initiatives, support product launches, and communicate organizational milestones and community impact.
  • Monitors media coverage, industry trends, and emerging issues to identify opportunities, assess reputational risk, and recommend communications strategies.
  • Supports crisis and issues management planning by developing communications strategies and messaging that protect and strengthen the Teachers brand.
  • Tracks and reports on public relations performance, media coverage, and earned media results to measure effectiveness and inform future strategies
  • Serves as the primary liaison with the Credit Union's public relations agency, providing strategic direction, managing day-to-day activities, evaluating performance, and ensuring agency initiatives align with organizational priorities, communications objectives, & brand standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

The good faith range for this position is $93,000 - $116,300 per year. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

All candidates will be subject to a background check, credit check, and drug test to determine employment eligibility.
