Position Summary
The CTSC Southwest Center for Advancing Clinical and Translational Innovation (CTSC/SW CACTI) is seeking an experienced communications professional to provide professional expertise and leadership in the planning, development and coordination of internal and external communications. This position will execute a variety of broad-based communication initiatives and marketing activities designed to advance the overall goals and objectives of CTSC/SW CACTI. Responsibilities include producing and disseminating information via multiple platforms such as audio/video, online services, press releases, newsletters, memos, promotional materials, and speeches. Designs and/or writes for campus publications, develops and coordinates website/internet resources and social media posts. Supports outreach events related to CTSC/SW CACTI.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provides information to the SW CACTI community and its constituencies; plans and directs development and communication of information designed to keep faculty, staff, executive leadership, and other community members informed of CTSC/SW CACTI's programs, accomplishments, and other relevant information.
2. Responds to requests for information from university, media personnel and the public; distributes promotional materials, including flyers, brochures, and press kits; disseminates information via the appropriate media.
3. Writes, edits, and reviews communication materials for CTSC/SW CACTI leadership and senior management, to include fact sheets, articles, newsletters, talking points, on-line information such as social media posts, marketing and other materials related communications.
4. Participates as appropriate in the planning, development, and/or implementation of web-based and other emerging communication technologies, methods, resources, concepts, and standards, within overall goals and parameters set by leadership and senior management.
5. Coordinates and facilitates on-site publicity activities and related services, which may include photographic services, as appropriate to the individual position.
6. Participates in strategic planning, and manages and coordinates the development, implementation, and completion of special projects related to internal and/or external communications and/or public relations initiatives; facilitates strategic advertising in various local media outlets.
7. Assists Translational Science Navigator in planning, coordinating and conducting special events such as open houses, community events, meetings, and/or tours, develop and deliver presentations.
8. Assists and advises CTSC/SW CACTI leadership regarding public relations issues; assists administrative officers in planning and formulating policies, strategies, and responses relative to the NIH grant.
9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Term appointment funding available through 06/30/2027; continuance beyond that date is subject of availability for additional funding

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism or related field
  • Experience with website creation and design
  • Experience with programmatic social media content creation
  • Experience with newsletter development
  • Knowledge and experience of UNM Marketing and Communications best practices and guidelines.
