Essential Functions
The Marketing and Public Relations (PR) Director provides leadership for planning, managing, and executing all marketing and public relations activities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides counsel to the college administration on issues related to communications, public information, public relations, and marketing.
  • Researches and composes speeches, correspondence, talking points, and announcements as directed on behalf of the college.
  • Unifies and supervises use of the college's brand and image.
  • Responsible for releasing internal and external news releases.
  • Collaborates with college administration, faculty, and staff to design and produce collateral print materials, departmental promotional items, and PR vehicles that are consistent with the college's mission and enrollment management strategies.
  • Will create a college newsletter and/or magazine as directed.
  • Plans, oversees, and manages the college's official electronic and social media communications.
  • Maintains the CBC Style Guide and the Marketing/Public Relations Procedures Manuals.
  • Assists, as necessary, with the college's special events.
  • Completes Annual Planning, including year-end reporting.
  • Oversees and manages department budget, including managing college advertisement expenses.
  • Script notes for public events and governmental congregations.
  • Supervises Phone Service staff, Digital Media staff, and Communications Staff.
  • Responsible for archiving public relations materials for the college.
  • Participates in the institutional assessment process.
  • Photographer for college events including community events, sports, and assemblies.
  • Collaborates with reports/editors.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Serves on college-wide task forces and committees as assigned.
  • Serves as a representative of the college in community, professional, and legislative organizations and/or agencies when assigned by the respective Cabinet member.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in marketing, advertising, mass communications, public relations, journalism, or related field. Minimum of three years of experience in communications, public relations, or related field. Excellent written, oral, editing, communication, and presentation skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include: demonstrated interpersonal skills, professionalism, and expertise in planning, writing, editing, designing, production methods, media relations, management, crisis media management, special event planning, and organizational development.
Master's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing.
Supplemental Information
Other Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness and Unit Planning and reporting.
  • Will be a member of the CBC Graduation Committee.
  • Will participate in College responsibilities such as the Institutional Effectiveness Committee, Task Force, etc.
Travel Requirements:
Some Travel will be required.
Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions and changes in the workflow/volume. May require some outdoor work for CBC events.
