Director, Retail Brand Marketing & Public Relations
Position Overview:
Brilliant Earth is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee public relations initiatives. This role will be responsible advancing our mission and promoting our brand values through strategic media relations and external communications. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience as a strategic marketing and PR leader who has conceived, executed, and maintained public relations, corporate communications, and event planning for premium consumer brands, with a strong focus on both physical retail environments and broader brand storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:
Public Relations & External Communications:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive PR strategies to build brand awareness and support Brilliant Earth's mission
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key media contacts, industry influencers, and editors to secure strategic coverage
  • Oversee the management of PR agencies, including weekly calls, reporting, editor product sends, and celebrity/influencer gifting
  • Collaborate on the planning and execution of events, including product launches, showroom openings, and special promotions

Brand Leadership:
  • Partner with senior leadership to define and communicate brand positioning that resonates with target audiences
  • Develop and maintain consistent, compelling brand messaging across all consumer touchpoints
  • Oversee the development of integrated marketing campaigns that drive traffic, sales, and brand affinity
  • Create engaging PR materials, press releases, and content that support both retail and PR initiatives

Retail Brand Strategy & Experience:
  • In partnership with the VP of integrated marketing and Director of Visual Merchandising, serve as a key contributor in developing and articulating a comprehensive retail brand marketing strategy aligned with overall business objectives
  • Lead the activation of brand marketing initiatives in prioritized physical showrooms, including the successful launch of new showrooms.

Operational Management:
  • Develop and manage budgets for both retail marketing and PR, ensuring optimal allocation of resources
  • Monitor campaign performance, measure key indicators, and provide insights for continuous improvement
  • Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and accountability within the marketing department
  • Lead and mentor team members, providing guidance and development opportunities

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in brand marketing and public relations, with significant experience in a D2C retail environment
  • Proven track record of developing and leading retail brand executions at scale
  • Established media relationships and successful PR campaign history
  • Experience working with premium or luxury brands in an omnichannel environment
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Experience identifying and successfully executing celebrity, influencer and brand partnerships
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
  • Robust leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams
  • Ability to effectively balance multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to respect and inclusion in the workplace
  • Passion for sustainability, ethics, and social responsibility
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field; advanced degree is a plus
