If this sounds like you, read on...

Role Overview

As a Senior Associate, you will implement day-to-day integrated comms activities, carrying out most of the campaign execution and administration, usually reporting to an Account Manager or Senior Account Manager. You and your teammates will be the engine of the client campaign, driving activities with determination and enthusiasm to deliver results that will make an impact for the client's business, and make your team shine. Typical activities include:

  • being the eyes and ears of your clients' industries, ensuring your account teams are up to speed on what's happening across the wider sector
  • constantly building your media and sector knowledge and developing integrated comms skills
  • developing client call agendas before calls; taking detailed notes to map out action items and owners post call
  • communicating with clients - on the phone, by email and in person
  • delivering analytics reports
  • generating results by pitching client stories (by phone and email) to journalists and influencers
  • writing content for a variety of purposes such as pitches, speaking and award submissions, press releases, blog entries, feature articles and case studies
  • assisting with clients' digital marketing programs
  • arranging and staffing media interviews and events
  • brainstorming new ideas for integrated comms campaigns

Job Duties and Responsibilities

You'll work across a portfolio of around 5-6 clients and will be assigned responsibility for specific areas of each client's campaign. On larger accounts you may work with other Senior Associates or help direct and support an Account Coordinator or Intern. You will be responsible for generating results, meeting deadlines and developing relationships with clients and the media. You will need to manage your time carefully, becoming an expert at keeping lots of balls in the air as you deliver work on different campaigns with different teams. You have your eyes and ears to the ground so if/when you suspect a campaign or initiative may run into a road block, you speak up and flag to your account leads immediately. You will add real value to your team through your knowledge of the media, your understanding of what makes a great story and how best to tell it. When you become a Senior Associate, you will be guided, taking a much more self-sufficient and proactive approach to your work. A Senior Associate owns, strategizes and delivers campaign activities from start to finish, with minimal input from their bosses. You will drive activity forward, overcoming obstacles independently and even running small accounts day-to-day largely on your own, including starting to work on budgeting and resourcing. The mark of a great Senior Associate is that their managers don't have to sweat the day-to-day stuff - they know client emails will be picked up, projects will be moved forward, quality results will be delivered and 'red flags' elevated - and they rarely need to ask for an update as you're consistently keeping them in the loop.

Qualifications and Skills

A great Senior Associate eats, breathes and dreams comms and is motivated by delivering amazing results for their clients. You'll know your clients' target influencers inside out and have an exhaustive knowledge of the media agenda across your clients' sectors and beyond. This knowledge will enable you to pitch effectively, generating outstanding results, and come up with clever, creative campaign ideas that will drive your client's agenda. You'll be hard at work developing relationships with journalists, industry influencers and clients that you'll tap into throughout your career in comms, and you'll be snapping at your Account Manager's heels, constantly thinking one step ahead. You'll be focused on learning and developing your professional skills every day, embracing new challenges that help you learn and being curious and open to new ideas so that we stay at the cutting edge of comms.

Salary Range:

$67,000.00-$85,000.00
