Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Museum Studies, Art History, History, Public History, Art Education, or related field and one (1) year of professional marketing, public relations, promotion, special event planning experience or promotion of public programs and services.
Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
General Purpose
Under general supervision, design, coordinate and implement marketing plan, including but not limited to event planning, membership, rental and facility programs. Specific attention is devoted to developing public/private partnerships
Typical Duties
Develop, coordinate and implement marketing initiatives to promote museum's assets.
Involves: Coordinate marketing programs and events. Develop methods to increase attendance and participation in museum events and programs, services and promotions. Design promotional materials to disseminate museum programs and events to the community and obtain audiences. Identify methods for increasing visitor's numbers and revenue. Develop brochures, flyers, programs, ads, newsletters, and press releases for print, radio, television and social media. Prepare advertising according to a planned marketing strategy. Maintain, enhance, and coordinate museum's participation in all available social media. Plan and execute public relations and marketing activities for the promotion of sponsored and co-sponsored events and programs. Conduct research through focus groups, surveys and other means to assess effectiveness and efficiency of marketing programs and events. Conduct community outreach. Attend city and community events to provide the public with information on museum programs and events. Attend events and programs to evaluate results, maintain safety and security of artifacts and artwork. Monitor marketing and events budgets. Prepare and maintain reports. Perform administrative duties as assigned.
Develop, coordinate and oversee special events and membership and facility programs. Involves: Coordinate special events. Organize, schedule, develop and implement all aspects of events and coordination. Coordinate the event selection process, contract negotiation, vendor selection and setup. Arrange for staff, equipment or services such as catering, floral arrangements, security or entertainment necessary to execute events and programs. Train and direct staff and volunteers for events and programs. Set up or arrange for set up of event and depending on the size and scope of event. Provide and coordinate refreshments for various museum gatherings. Purchase all necessary supplies for events and programs. Monitor events and programs in progress and resolve problems that arise. Oversee, advertise, promote, and facilitate facility rental events. Manage event and program calendars. Assist with membership recruitment and retention strategies. Develop membership outreach strategies to recruit new members and to create public/private partnerships.
Supervises assigned staff to include stagehands, event volunteers and technical contractors. Involves: schedule, assign, instruct, guide and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development. Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony. Interview applicants. Recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, merit pay or other employee status changes.
