Job Summary
Compiles records, sorts, shelves, issues, and receives library materials such as books, electronic media, pictures, cards, slides and microfilm. Locates library materials for loan and replaces material in shelving area, stacks, or files according to identification number and title. Registers stakeholders to permit them to borrow books, periodicals, and other library materials. Keeps library neat and organized to improve the stakeholder's experience. This position reports directly to the assigned school's librarian.
What you will do
  • Locates library materials for students, including books, periodicals, A/V materials, and electronic resources. Checks out and processes returned items. Shelves items back to their proper place.
  • Performs clerical activities, such as answering phones, typing, photocopying and mailing out material. Runs routine reports showing usage, users, issues, etc. Provides assistance to librarians in the maintenance of collections of books, periodicals, magazines, newspapers, and A/V and other materials. Answers routine inquiries, and refers students in need of professional assistance to librarians.
  • Processes and enters new materials including books, A/V materials, and periodicals into Integrated Library Systems program.
  • Maintains book and technology inventory within electronic database system. Processes notices of missing, damaged or overdue items.
  • Assists in processing student IDs, passwords, email, and login information for use in library's electronic resources.
  • Acts as lead to students and volunteers working in library.
  • Operates a variety of media equipment and computer equipment and systems for the purpose for providing library media services to all stakeholders.
  • Distributes, inventories and secures school and library media equipment. Reports any damaged or missing media equipment to librarian.

Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years Applicable experience working with customers in a high volume atmosphere Required

  • Customer service orientation, attention to detail, basic computer skills, and excellent organizational skills

Equivalency

    Starting At: $20.45

    Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
