Job description

The Center for Healthcare Delivery Science (CHDS) at Nemours Children's Health invites applications for our Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program. CHDS is a team of scientists who partner with healthcare systems, schools, and communities. Through these collaborations we aim to uncover, investigate, and transform how children and families can thrive. We are seeking individuals interested in clinical research who aspire to academic research careers.

CHDS is led by Drs. Anne Kazak, Melissa Alderfer and Susana Patton and spans the Nemours Enterprise with center faculty and staff in Delaware and Florida. Our five areas of research focus include: 1) Improving delivery of care to children with medical conditions and their families; 2) Focusing on health for all children, through addressing barriers to optimal health and differences in access to care; 3) Identifying and addressing key psychosocial and behavioral factors that impact health; 4) Addressing the diverse needs of youth, families and pediatric health care providers; and 5) Developing and evaluating technology-enhanced interventions.

CHDS fellowships are two years and are open to individuals from a variety of backgrounds (e.g., psychology, nursing, public health). For 2026-2028, we have two fellowship positions: one in Wilmington, DE and one in Jacksonville or Orlando, FL. Fellows are paired with a primary research faculty mentor within CHDS and may also collaborate with other Nemours faculty. The DE position is focused on obesity and disordered eating. Areas of focus for the other position is based on interest and experience. All positions are primarily research based. If applicable, up to 20% supervised clinical time is allotted to accrue hours for licensure. Fellows will have the opportunity to:

Work with their mentor to develop an area of research focus within the scope of CHDS.

Write and submit mentored grant applications (e.g., internal fellowship grants, NIH K23), with the goal of launching their own line of research.

Participate in all aspects of clinical research including project planning, recruitment and data collection, data management and analyses, and manuscript preparation.

Attend educational sessions including biomedical research presentations, pediatric grand rounds, and CHDS-based research meetings and didactics.

Become part of a cohort of postdoctoral fellows across Nemours Children's Health.

Required application materials are: 1) a CV; 2) a cover letter summarizing the applicant's research interests and career goals; and 3) three letters of recommendation. Applicants should not highlight specific research mentors in their cover letter. Instead, they should emphasize their area(s) of interest and how it aligns with the CHDS focus areas. However, applicants interested in the obesity and disordered eating position should state this in their cover letter. Applicants should include their location(s) of interest in their cover letter.

The salary for the 2026-2027 academic year is $66,231; fellows may earn a merit increase at the start of their second year. Fellows also receive a professional development allowance and Nemours offers a competitive benefits package.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until we fill the positions. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis as applications are received. Nemours is an Equal Employment Opportunity organization and does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity or gender.

Nemours Children's Health is an internationally recognized pediatric health system serving more than 1.7 million patient encounters each year. We deliver care across six states through two freestanding children's hospitals - Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware and Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida - along with a network of more than 80 primary, urgent, and specialty care practices and more than 40 hospital partnerships.

Our Whole Child Health approach focuses equally on prevention and treatment, partnering with communities to help every child thrive.
