Position Summary

The Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall presentation of all public and back-of-house areas throughout the resort. This role plays a critical part in ensuring guests experience a clean, safe, and inviting environment while supporting the overall operations of the Housekeeping Department.

Essential FunctionsPublic Area Cleaning
  • Clean and maintain all public spaces, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, meeting rooms, restrooms, offices, and employee areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish designated areas according to department standards.
  • Clean glass surfaces, mirrors, windows, doors, and fixtures throughout the property.
  • Maintain cleanliness of furniture, dรฉcor, and fixtures in guest-facing areas.
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport waste to designated collection areas.
  • Replenish restroom supplies, including soap, paper products, and guest amenities.
Resort Appearance & Maintenance
  • Inspect public areas regularly to identify cleanliness, maintenance, or safety concerns.
  • Report maintenance deficiencies, damage, or hazards promptly to Engineering or Management.
  • Place safety signage when performing floor care or addressing spill clean-up needs.
  • Support the upkeep of outdoor public areas, entrances, and other designated resort spaces as assigned.
Guest Service
  • Greet guests warmly and professionally.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and provide assistance when needed.
  • Maintain a positive and service-oriented attitude while interacting with guests and associates.
  • Assist in creating a welcoming and comfortable environment consistent with Westin and Marriott brand standards.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and chemical handling requirements.
  • Utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe lifting techniques.
  • Report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, or security concerns immediately.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA standards and hotel safety protocols.
Teamwork & Communication
  • Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, and other departments.
  • Communicate effectively regarding room status, maintenance concerns, and operational needs.
  • Support department goals and assist with special cleaning projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.

  • Previous housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely.

This position operates throughout a luxury resort environment, including guest-facing public spaces, administrative offices, recreation areas, restaurants, meeting facilities, and back-of-house areas.
