Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Traffic/ITS PE PTOE Seller-Doer to take on a leadership role supporting and expanding our traffic engineering and ITS services in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This role will work onsite within a team environment.

In this key position, you'll work closely with AECOM's local and regional leadership to grow an already established traffic/ITS team serving a mix of municipal and regional clients across North Texas. You will lead project delivery, drive business development, foster client relationships, mentor junior staff, and coordinate across AECOM's multidisciplinary transportation teams.

Projects will vary in scale and complexity and may include municipal traffic engineering, ITS planning and deployment, signal and lighting design, traffic simulation and forecasting, and MOT/traffic control planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of traffic and ITS professionals serving municipal and regional clients throughout North Texas
  • Support business development efforts: identify opportunities, develop capture strategies, lead/assist with proposal writing and client interviews
  • Manage and deliver technical services such as:
  • Traffic operations and safety studies, forecasting, simulation, and planning
  • PS&E packages for traffic signals, ITS, signing/striping, lighting, and MOT
  • Systems Engineering for ITS and connected technology projects
  • Oversee production of technical deliverables including reports, estimates, memos, presentations, and plan sets
  • Serve as Project Manager or technical lead on traffic/ITS assignments
  • Provide quality control and technical oversight for project deliverables
  • Support business development efforts: identify opportunities, develop capture strategies, lead/assist with proposal writing and client interviews
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships with municipal agencies, MPOs, and TxDOT district offices
  • Coordinate with internal teams across civil, structures, environmental, and planning disciplines
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget expectations for multiple projects simultaneously
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in traffic/ITS engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 20+ years of experience delivering traffic/ITS services, with a strong portfolio of municipal projects across Texas
  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license and active PTOE certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Proven success in client-facing roles and business development, especially with municipal agencies and TxDOT
  • Deep familiarity with:
  • Traffic simulation tools (Synchro, VISSIM)
  • CAD platforms (MicroStation/OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D)
  • Signal and ITS design standards and software (including systems engineering process)
  • Strong writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Design-build and alternative delivery experience a plus
