The Balanced Being Psychotherapy Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed mental health counselor to join our team in a full-time capacity. Work Environment

The role of a mental health counselor at our center is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility and a balanced work-life commitment. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments and comprehensive interviews to gather essential information from clients regarding their mental, behavioral, and emotional health.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans that address the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups, ensuring alignment with best practices and clinical guidelines.
  • Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing a variety of therapeutic modalities based on clientsโ€™ goals and preferences.
  • Continuously monitor client progress throughout the treatment process, making necessary adjustments to intervention strategies as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with primary care physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic client care.
  • Provide ongoing support and crisis intervention for clients experiencing acute mental health situations.
  • Document all aspects of client care meticulously, ensuring compliance with legal standards and maintaining clear communication with other team members.
  • Assist family members and caregivers in understanding and managing mental health challenges faced by their loved ones.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will impact a diverse range of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, and families facing various mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. You will contribute to shaping their mental health journey, guiding them through difficult times and helping them find balance and resilience.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree or higher in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current, valid licensure as LCMFT, LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW-C in the state of Maryland.
  • Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Demonstrated experience in the mental health counseling field, with a strong foundation in clinical practices.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record systems; familiarity with AVATAR is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of co-occurring disorders, their underlying causes, and implications for treatment.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic modalities and best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, compassionate communication, and the ability to build rapport with clients.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience working in a community health setting or with diverse populations is highly preferred.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and acute care settings will be considered a valuable asset.
  • Knowledgeable about the pharmacological aspects of mental health treatment and how they inform therapeutic interventions.
