Both Pss and Security Guard roles involve security responsibilities, but Pss often requires specialized certifications and may work in more corporate or industrial settings. Security Guards typically operate in public or private property protection. While their duties overlap, Pss roles tend to focus on more technical or specialized security tasks, making them distinct in training and work environment.

JOB PURPOSE: Support the recovery of members of a micro community by providing support services for the clients that are recovering from alcohol and/or substance use disorder and need additional support. Decisions on establishing goals and formal action plans will be made in conjunction with the client with a wellness approach as the foundation. The peers support specialist will have lived experience knowledge on how to support the client in solving problems. Support the clients accessing support services by providing requested information to include but not limited to; wellness assessment, scheduling services, connecting them with providers. The Peer Specialist (PSS) assists and guides clients toward the identification and achievement of specific goals defined by the client and specified in the Individual Treatment Plan (ITP). This work involves a variety of routine, standardized tasks that will facilitate work to be performed by higher level providers. The peer support specialist will promote community socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, self-help, and development of natural supports.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.
CERTIFICATION: State Approved Peer Support Specialist certification.
EXPERIENCE: 3+ years strong administrative/clerical experience; 2+ social service and/or non-profit experience preferred.
ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.
LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record.
WORK LOCATION: In-Person
VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.
OTHER: Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others. Must be available and willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs.
