What is a PSO?
A PSO (Professional Support Officer) job typically involves providing administrative and operational support within an organization. Responsibilities may include managing records, coordinating schedules, assisting with reports, and ensuring smooth workflow in a team or department. PSOs are commonly found in government, corporate, or healthcare settings where efficient support is essential. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities are key for success in this role.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PSO?
To thrive as a PSO (Patient Safety Officer), you typically need a background in healthcare, expertise in patient safety and risk management, and often a nursing or related clinical degree. Familiarity with incident reporting systems, root cause analysis tools, and relevant patient safety certifications such as CPPS (Certified Professional in Patient Safety) is highly valuable. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills enable PSOs to effectively drive safety initiatives and collaborate across departments. These skills and qualities are crucial for fostering a culture of safety, reducing risks, and improving patient outcomes in healthcare organizations.
What are some typical challenges faced by Patient Safety Officers and how are they addressed?
Patient Safety Officers (PSOs) often face challenges such as overcoming staff resistance to change, identifying root causes of incidents, and maintaining a culture of transparency around reporting errors. Addressing these issues involves clear communication, ongoing staff education, and building trust to encourage open dialogue about safety concerns. PSOs also collaborate closely with clinical teams, quality assurance, and leadership to implement evidence-based safety practices. By proactively addressing these challenges, PSOs help drive continuous improvement and safer patient care environments.

Job description
At Axon, we're on a mission to Protect Life. We're explorers, pursuing society's most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Your Impact

Through camera registration and secure camera integration, the program expands investigative reach and real-time situational awareness during critical incidents while maintaining privacy, transparency, and camera-owner control.
As the PSO Program Manager, Community Connect, you will lead the operational health and scalable execution of the Community Connect program across Axon's U.S. customer base and growing international footprint.

You will serve as a program-level escalation resource, coordinating with Professional Services, Product, Engineering, Support, Sales, and Finance to remove blockers and drive resolution. You will also provide consultative support for hardware deployment readiness, remote hardware configuration and activation, connectivity, and camera integration requirements.
Your work will enable agencies to launch and sustain Community Connect programs that extend operational visibility, strengthen community participation, and scale responsibly without compromising privacy or the customer experience.
