THE POSITION
The engineer will provide operational support, troubleshooting, and engineering expertise for enterprise messaging systems, proxy services, DNS infrastructure, authentication systems, and monitoring platforms. The Applications Engineer will collaborate with network operations, security teams, and external partners to ensure reliable and secure application services supporting DOJ mission operations and enterprise network services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Application Infrastructure Operations

  • Implement, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise application services supporting network operations.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security across enterprise application platforms.
  • Diagnose application connectivity issues across multiple layers of network and security infrastructure.
  • Investigate service disruptions and perform root cause analysis to restore services.

2. Messaging and Email Security Systems

  • Manage and support Proofpoint mail server infrastructure and related secure messaging services.
  • Diagnose mail delivery issues using log analysis and SMTP relay troubleshooting.
  • Support secure email routing and filtering policies across the enterprise messaging environment.
  • Maintain high-volume SMTP relay systems supporting enterprise communications.

3. Proxy and Secure Web Gateway Services

  • Manage and support Bluecoat Proxy SG and SSL inspection services or F5 proxy services.
  • Investigate and resolve user connectivity issues related to proxy infrastructure.
  • Modify and implement proxy policies based on security requirements and operational needs.

4. DNS and Network Services

  • Manage and maintain Infoblox DNS infrastructure and troubleshoot DNS-related issues.
  • Support enterprise BIND/DNS services for internal and external network applications.
  • Maintain DNS configuration, zones, and records across the enterprise environment.
  • Assist in diagnosing application connectivity problems related to DNS services.

5. Identity and Authentication Services

  • Manage and maintain RSA Authentication Manager and associated authentication agents.
  • Support multi-factor authentication services and secure access platforms.
  • Troubleshoot authentication and access issues for enterprise users and applications.

6. Remote Support and Infrastructure Tools

  • Manage and maintain BeyondTrust Remote Support solutions used by operational teams.
  • Support remote support platforms and maintain secure remote access infrastructure.

7. IP Address Management (IPAM)

  • Manage and maintain Bluecat IP Address Management (IPAM) systems.
  • Maintain IP allocation records and support IP address management across enterprise environments.
  • Assist with network configuration coordination with network engineering teams.

8. Monitoring and Incident Response

  • Utilize monitoring platforms such as Xymon or similar tools to track application health and performance.
  • Investigate alerts and potential service disruptions.
  • Perform incident response activities related to enterprise application services.
