Job description

Student Services Associate

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Student Support Services, the Student Services Associate is part of the backbone of the Office of Student Services, the central administrative unit for Boston College's eight schools, 800+ faculty, and over 14,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, she/he is the front line when it comes to answering questions and resolving issues ranging from student registration, financial aid, and billing, to auxiliary services including parking and ID cards. Whether requests come in-person, by phone, or email she/he aims to provide a friendly and professional experience and superior service. In addition to the public-facing role, she/he also handles back-end processing. This end-to-end approach ensures that each Associate understands the full scope of what is needed to resolve issues, from initial contact to successful follow-up. Back-end tasks support all aspects of the Office of Student Services, including loan certification and disbursement, student account analysis, financial advising and outreach, cashiering, payment reconciliation, and first year orientation. New hires are adequately extensively trained to be efficient and effective in providing first-response resolutions, and ongoing professional development reflects the university's values commitment to continuous improvement. The nature of the role demands excellent organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy and follow-through, as well as the ability to prioritize different kinds of work throughout the day. As the face of the University, product and process knowledge are critical, as is an orientation that centers on the Office's mission to provide flawless service to student, faculty, and members of the BC community for whom Associates support more than 100,000 customer service activities each year.

Hiring Range: $24.78/hr to $30.96/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience. Requirements B.A. preferred. Two to three years of experience in a fast-paced, multi-tasking office environment with exposure to federal or state regulated programs, preferably in a university setting.
