Job description

Amazon Web Services is a fast-paced technology company and a leader in the world of Data Centers. We are looking for proven Data Center Technology Manager with solid experience in people management and scaling teams. The DCO Area Manager will drive the vision for the Data Center Operations within the region.

The ideal candidate would have a background in IT Infrastructure, Data Centers or worked for the industrial manufacturing domain (aircraft, automobiles, consumer electronics, heavy machinery... list not exhaustive) or Military.

The company's infrastructure consists of various custom built and off-the-shelf applications operating on a variety of platforms and other major technologies. The successful candidate will have experience managing a team of 70+ people on a 24/7 rotating shift across multiple Data Centers. The role includes mentoring, developing and growing people in all levels, supporting projects and proposing technical solutions that are scalable.

PDX is an AWS GovCloud region. As required by our contracts with the federal government, effective February 24, 2026, logical access to the AWS GovCloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. (GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States)

Key job responsibilities
  • Team management of Data Center Managers leading Data Center Technicians. This includes recruitment / people development through coaching and mentoring / performance review / rotation management.
  • Define the strategy to improve the efficiency and productivity of day to day 24x7 Datacenter Operations.
  • Manage and continuously Improve the workflows, processes and throughput for data Centers Operations.
  • Ensure all operational KPIs and Metrics are consistent, being measured and met inside AWS Data Centers.
  • Drive innovation and automation within Data Center Operations.
  • Challenge the quality and quantity of services being provided by the Data Center Operations team and continuously strive to improve our Customer Experience.
  • Management of large-scale events in the Datacenters (crisis situations: thermal or power events, networking issues, etc..)
  • Manage Vendor performance.
  • Ensure Data Centers are compliant with all relevant security policies and procedures.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
