About the Job
Innovative Labs is looking for a Product Development Technician to join our R&D team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their food science, chemistry, or nutrition career who wants hands-on lab experience supporting new product development, working directly alongside our Product Development Scientists on everything from bench-top prototypes to pilot-scale trials.
What You'll Do
  • Assist Product Development Scientists in preparing bench-top prototypes following defined protocols or specifications
  • Document detailed work and take accurate measurements of samples (weighing, mixing, pH/Brix checks, sensory prep)
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks, sample logs, and ingredient inventory with accuracy and timeliness
  • Assist in preparing Nutrition/Supplement Facts panels under the supervision of a Product Development Scientist
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area
  • Work as a team with other Product Development Technicians and Scientists
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the goals of the department

What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Foundational knowledge of food science, chemistry, or nutrition fundamentals
  • Lab proficiency with pH probes, balances, viscometers, sample preparation, and pasteurization
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • An eagerness to learn, strong attention to detail, and the ability to ask well-formed questions
  • Solid time management skills for juggling multiple projects under supervision

Education and Experience
  • Coursework or degree in progress/completed in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition, Biochemistry, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on lab experience
  • Prior lab coursework, internship, or bench experience is a plus
  • Basic familiarity with laboratory equipment such as pH probes and balances
