Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Asset Protection Manager position at Bass Pro Shops is a leadership role that will maintain and monitor all asset protection, security, compliance, and safety related functions within a facility. When required, this position will additionally lead our Asset Protection Specialist roles that are in place to support and carry out the asset protection mission of the company. This mission is aimed at reducing shrink, maintaining accurate inventory, maintaining compliance, and ensuring a safe and secure environment for our employees and customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Establishes strong working relationships with both store and/or distribution center leadership and employees to support all Asset Protection programs to achieve our overall business objectives.
  • Develops and encourages a strong level of commitment to asset protection programs with all facility management and employees in partnership with our Corporate Office Partners.
  • Identifies root causes of shrink through analyzing cycle counts, trailer audits, known loss, and vendor compliance opportunities or other exception reporting.
  • Identifies and investigates criminal activity, policy violations, illicit behavior, workplace accidents, and instances of loss. Monitors criminal cases, appear in court, and testify as warranted.
  • Plans and implements change to mitigate identified shrink sources, security opportunities and lead to resolution on all internal and external loss investigations.
  • Manages and ensures compliance conditions are 100% maintained related to our Firearms processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Confirms all over/short shipments are investigated and resolved between DC and Store.
  • Provides leadership shrink visibility to cycle count initiatives, audits, or inventories monthly.
  • Ensures all asset protection and security related systems are maintained & leveraged appropriately.
  • Identifies, follow ups, and resolves security, safety, environmental and regulatory issues proactively or as assigned by supervisor or in coordination with the GM and facility management team.
  • Maintains all asset protection records according to policy and support PCI compliance initiatives in partnership with IT.
  • Assists Store or Distribution Center leadership by promoting safety programs to ensure a safe work environment, support safe work procedures, participate on safety committee.
  • Manages the asset protection and/or security team to ensure physical security and merchandise protection standards.
  • Assists in training the asset protection and/or security team in acceptable policies and procedures related to shoplifting.
  • Conducts apprehensions for suspected shoplifting if/when authorized and trained according to company policy and procedures.
  • Prepares detailed and accurate reports in a timely manner.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Environmental Safety or related field from an accredited institution
  • Certificate(s) or License(s): National certified training program (Wicklander-Zuwalski or Reed training), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), Loss Prevention Certified/Qualified (LPC/LPQ), etc.
  • Experience: Five years of experience in facility security, asset protection

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
  • Demonstrated experience conducting criminal or internal or related investigations
  • Experience in using physical security systems (CCTV, EAS, etc.)
  • Experience conducting quality reviews/audits
  • Current AHA First Aid/CPR/AED certification

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Less than 25%

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regularly performs computer work, walks, stands, and lifts up to 50lbs.
  • Occasionally sits.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
  • Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
