Manager, Software Engineering, ProQuest d/b/a Clarivate Analytics (US) LLC, Ann Arbor, MI

Duties: Responsible for delivery of a specific product with ability to lead a small software engineering team and provide hands-on guidance in coding, architecture, and system design. Lead technical discussions, facilitate code reviews, and drive innovation. Actively involved and hands-on with writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code in accordance with coding standards. Guide and review team code to ensure clean, efficient, and maintainable code. Regularly evaluate team performance, technical capabilities, provide colleague feedback, and escalate to leadership as needed. Implement design changes to improve quality, performance, cost reduction, and standardization through analysis of designs and problem-solving techniques. Define architecture of software solution. Respond to direct or indirect customer inquiries regarding function and design, and attend customer meetings. Oversee day to day operations and lead a team of colleagues. Plan, delegate and direct the team's day-to-day work to achieve operational targets or objectives with contribution to the immediate results for the team or department. Communicate policies, practices and procedures within immediate area of responsibility to stakeholders within the team. Identify and lead team-level quality and process improvement initiatives. Provide input on staffing decisions for the team. Implement policy and procedure changes determined by leadership. Lead Scrum meetings. Implement quality frameworks, lead end of sprint and end of project retrospective meetings and provide follow up updates to leadership. May conduct interviews for job candidates. No formal hire / fire authority.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field plus a minimum of 10 years of software development experience. Must have at least 10 years of experience in each of the following areas: Development in C#.Net (Net Framework and .NET Core); SQL Server or other relational database systems; and Source Code Management. Must have at least 5 years of experience in each of the following areas: Cloud Computing services including AWS or Azure; MVC design pattern; Automated Unit Testing; and automated deployment tools including Jenkins. Must have at least 2 years of experience in direct supervision of Software Developers or Engineers. Must have experience with Git-based workflows, Scrum, and design documentation tools including Confluence, UML, and Swagger. Must have experience with testing frameworks including MSTest and NUnit. Must have experience with JavaScript, REST APIs, OpenAPI, and CI/CD tools. Must have experience conducting formal performance reviews through Workday or similar platforms. Must have experience correcting server resources and making application changes through techniques including caching, algorithm optimizations, and database optimizations. Must have experience utilizing Agile tools including Jira, and collaboration tools like Teams or Slack. Must have experience with project management tools including MS Project, Trello or Wrike. Must have experience with pair-programming. Must have good written and verbal communication skills in English. Position is 100% remote. Up to 10% of domestic travel may be required.
