Full-Time Position
Blue Man Group Orlando is looking for full-time Props Technicians.
The Props Technician is responsible for maintenance and fabrication of show props, running shows, and props support as needed and assigned by the Head of Props. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential, as are interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required. The ability to work within established deadlines is required. The ability to work effectively with diverse populations is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
โ€ข Assist in the maintenance of all technical elements of the show under the jurisdiction of the Props Department including but not limited to props, equipment, and set pieces;
โ€ข Assist in maintaining inventory of show consumables;
โ€ข Attend meetings as required by management;
โ€ข Support supplemental prop needs for rehearsals, appearances, and gigs;
โ€ข Provide regular and consistent show coverage on the Props track;
โ€ข During the running of the show, perform all duties as outlined on the run sheets (including preset, show cues, turnover, and post-show) in a safe, professional, timely and efficient manner;
โ€ข Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise;
โ€ข Support systems for the maintenance, cleaning, and organization of workspaces;
โ€ข Adhere to safety rules and regulations for locality and department;
โ€ข Support gigs, trainings, rehearsals, and marketing events;
โ€ข Participate in load-in and load-out and lend assistance to other departments as needed;
โ€ข All other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. โ€ข The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required;
โ€ข Theatrical run crew experience;
โ€ข Theatrical prop fabrication skills;
โ€ข Theatrical carpentry and/or electrics skills are an asset;
โ€ข Organizational skills a must;
โ€ข Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle technical issues swiftly during a live show;
โ€ข Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
โ€ข Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
โ€ข Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
โ€ข At least 2 years of previous experience, or in a similar environment;
โ€ข Working knowledge of Microsoft applications;
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or a similar field; or equivalent relevant work experience;
โ€ข Ability to obtain OSHA 30 course completion card;
โ€ข Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Ability to clearly and effectively communicate viaheadset;
โ€ข Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
โ€ข Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer. This is a full-time hourly position, eligible for overtime, and has a Competitive Benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, Life Insurance and 401K Plans. This compensation is location-specific and compensation in other geographies may vary. Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided upon elements related, but not limited to: skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.
