Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with a background in control systems who is interested in focusing their career on estimating and technical proposal development. This role is well-suited for individuals with hands-on experience in automation or controls who want to transition into a more strategic, commercially focused position.

The Technical Proposals & Estimating Lead will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates and supporting proposal efforts for engineering projects. This individual will leverage their technical knowledge to define scope, build pricing models, and ensure proposals are both competitive and technically sound.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for control systems and automation projects, including hardware, software, labor, and integration
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define project scope, assumptions, and technical solutions
  • Translate customer requirements and technical specifications into clear scope, assumptions, and pricing
  • Lead the estimating portion of proposal development and support overall proposal efforts as needed
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and validate assumptions
  • Support development of proposal materials, including technical scope descriptions and pricing summaries
  • Manage timelines for estimating inputs and coordinate with internal stakeholders to meet proposal deadlines
  • Conduct research and gather technical information necessary for proposal development
  • Maintain and improve estimating tools, templates, and historical cost data

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred
  • 3–8+ years of experience in control systems, automation, or related technical environment
  • Strong understanding of PLCs, DCS, instrumentation, and industrial automation systems
  • Interest in transitioning into estimating, cost development, or proposal-related work
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into scope and cost
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related tools

Preferred Qualifications:

Compensation: This position offers a base salary range of $75,000 to $100,000, based on experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for a variable compensation plan.

The posted salary range represents a good faith estimate of the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.

On-Site Requirements

This position requires a full on-site presence 5 days per week during the first 4–6 months. Following that period, the role will be on-site four days per week, including Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with the fourth on-site day alternating between Tuesday or Friday depending on business needs.

Must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
