JOB SUMMARY

Are you a finance professional looking to use your accounting skills to directly support kingdom work? Christ Fellowship is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our Finance team at our Palm Beach Gardens location.

Reporting to the Finance Associate Director, you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations by preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, analyzing financial data, and supporting our annual budgeting and audit processes. Beyond balancing numbers, you will be part of a dynamic church staff dedicated to enhancing financial stewardship, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making in service of our mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Month-End Close & Reconciliations: Participate in the monthly close process by preparing timely journal entries, performing account reconciliations, investigating variances, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies. Execute bank reconciliations with precision and perform monthly control activities to resolve discrepancies.
  • Financial Systems & Reporting: Maintain and update financial data within accounting systems, assist with system improvements and special projects, and provide timely financial insights to ministry leaders and stakeholders.
  • Budgeting, Audit & Compliance: Collaborate with the finance team and department leaders during the annual budget process. Prepare and file sales and use tax returns, and participate in the annual audit to ensure proper compliance and internal controls.
  • Process Improvement: Support process enhancements, develop and maintain financial policies and procedures, and contribute subject matter expertise to elevate operational efficiency and financial integrity.
  • Team & Cultural Engagement: Actively engage in the spiritual life of our staff and participate in major churchwide events (such as Christmas, Easter, and the Christ Fellowship Conference), maintaining flexibility for occasional after-hours or weekend assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Faith Alignment: A vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, an active attendee at a local Christian church, and alignment with the mission and values of Christ Fellowship Church.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Relevant Work Experience: 3 to 5 years of accounting and/or audit experience. (Public accounting or corporate background desired.)
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Sage Intacct and Prophix is a plus.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Demonstrated ability to perform high-quality, detailed work with minimal supervision within assigned deadlines.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance ministry leaders.
