Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a Property Operations & Maintenance Assistant to support a growing real estate business in New York's Capital Region.

This hybrid role focuses primarily on property operations, maintenance, reno and repair, with some property management coordination and administrative support. No two days are exactly the same. One day you may be completing a building repair, working on an apartment renovation, preparing a property for a new tenant, meeting contractors or picking up supplies, while the next you may be coordinating maintenance projects and organizing documents.

The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, is highly organized, proactive, reliable, and an excellent communicator. They are resourceful, comfortable working independently, and able to interact confidently and respectfully with tenants, vendors, and contractors. Most importantly, they are willing to jump in wherever needed, solve problems, and aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves.

This position is currently part-time, with the potential to grow into a full-time role.

Responsibilities

Property Operations, Maintenance & Repairs

  • Visit local properties as needed
  • Complete repairs, light renovations (non licensed trades) and other maintenance tasks

  • Assist with tenant and vendor communications
  • Manage property listings and showing schedules
  • Assist with bookkeeping, invoices, and receipts

  • Respond to occasional after-hours/weekend property issues

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems
  • Experience performing maintenance, repairs, or other light reno work
  • Comfortable using basic hand and power tools
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks throughout the day

Preferred

  • Experience using (or willingness to learn) AI tools and AI agents to streamline administrative tasks
  • Experience with residential real estate, property maintenance, or property management
