Job description

Position Summary:

Responsible for the effective and profitable operation and direct supervision of all activities within the assigned off-track betting (OTB) site locations. Responsible for all assigned sites results and activities. Ensure Property Operations Manager is appropriately running the daily operations and experiences meet guest expectations. Appropriately respond to and manage any escalated site concerns and guest and/or team member challenges. Ensure compliance with all regulations.

Reports to: Vice President of Operations

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visit all assigned site locations multiple times per week
  • Observe and ensure Property Operations Managers are safely, efficiently, and effectively managing the day-to-day operations of their respective location
  • Interview, hire, oversee, measure performance, conduct investigations, and discipline assigned site's managerial staff
  • Lead the tactical execution of the assigned site locations of strategic initiatives, promotions, projects, etc.
  • Review assigned sites' financial results; implement modifications to operations with the Property Operations Manager if financial goals are not being met
  • Make recommendations to the Vice President of Operations to improve service, and cost savings and revenue generating measures
  • Ensure Property Operations Managers monitor and control labor costs within the locations while maintaining adequate coverage based on fluctuating business demands
  • Walk the gaming areas at each location, looking for opportunities to interact with internal and external guests displaying an attentive, upbeat and enthusiastic demeanor throughout each interaction
  • Consistently monitor site to identify and report regulatory and safety compliance risks; resolves risks as appropriate
  • Proficiently use Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and player tracking system(s)
  • Ensure efficiency of HHR Terminals and related gaming equipment
  • Partner with management-level staff at the locations to develop and grow their skills for future promotional opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations.
  • Efficiently perform duties in both calm and busy situations
  • Perform Property Operations Manager duties in absence of position
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role that included team member direct reports and being responsible for overall daily operation
  • Positive, proactive leadership skills with experience in developing, motivating, and encouraging staff
  • Proven experience driving positive change via self-motivation and initiative
  • Proven experience providing high level of customer service
  • Must be willing to reside in the region area
  • Critical analysis skills proven to effectively resolve issues, challenges, and/or concerns
  • Able to work varied hours which include nights, weekends and holidays
  • Basic understanding of, and experience using, computers and computer programs
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, including both written and verbal forms
  • Professional appearance and personal hygiene as deemed appropriate by supervisor
  • Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company

Preferred:

  • Previous experience with pari-mutuel equipment, and rules and regulations
  • Previous pari-mutuel supervisory or managerial experience
  • Previous experience developing direct reports for promotional and/or professional growth opportunities
  • Experience performing same or similar job duties
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Licensing Status:

  • Obtain and maintain the required Wyoming Gaming Commission license

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed indoors
  • More than 40 hours a week will be required at times. Work hours subject to change.
  • Travel 75% of time to assigned locations throughout the state of Wyoming
  • Must be able to work long hours under busy conditions
  • Subject to hazards which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, and elevated noise levels.
  • Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces.
  • Duties may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, sitting and crouching
  • Specific required movements include the following:
    • Trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull and carry
    • Arms reach, carry, push, pull, lift, twist, and rotate.
    • Legs-lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate
    • Hands-grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, eye and hand coordination, overall and finger dexterity.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
