Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced Accounting Manager for our family office. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail oriented, have strong organization skills and an ability to handle confidential information discreetly. You will also possess a strong background in accounting principles and practices, coupled with exceptional project management skills and business acumen. Company overview: AML Properties is a high integrity company with responsibility for the family office, managing multiple domestic and international activities including real estate investment, residential property development, property management, a private operating charitable foundation and other investment and operating activities. POSITION SUMMARY

This role will be both hands on and supervisory. In addition to traditional accounting tasks, budget management, account analysis, reporting and tax compliance, you will coordinate with contractors, work with real estate brokers, insurance brokers, attorneys, third party property managers, tax and accounting consultants and investment advisors.

Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING (MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS)

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • 8 years of proven experience as an Accounting Manager or similar role with proficiency in financial analysis and cost control
    • Experience with real estate transaction documents and related accounting
    • Experience managing multiple entities with intercompany transactions
    • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
    • High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
    • Ability to grasp varied concepts and respond accordingly
    • Dependability to get the job done
    • Patience for tedious or complex tasks
    • Income or sales and use tax experience a plus
    • French literate a plus
    • Must be able to work independently as well as work within a team
    • Experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks or other accounting software
    • Intermediate skills in MS Excel and MS Word

WHAT YOU’LL DO (OTHER ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

    • Oversee all accounting functions including bookkeeping, AR and AP, monthly and year end closings
    • Ensure construction projects are on budget, reporting any deviations of cost or timeline
    • Ensure all payments are made timely and appropriately
    • Coordinate property insurance coverages
    • Oversee real estate tax appeals and payments
    • Prepare timely, accurate and meaningful management reports and financial statements
    • Submit financial information for foreign financial and tax reporting
    • Account analysis and discrepancy resolution
    • Private equity investment analysis, review and reporting
    • Collect, organize and manage sensitive company and personal information
    • Review Real estate transaction documents
    • Prepare year end workpapers for CPA for tax returns and financial reporting
    • Maintain appropriate records as required for tax retention
    • Treasury management as needed
    • Assist with strategic planning
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
