Job description

Draft Position Descriptions

Collects needed information from management officials, subject matter specialists and other sources and draft employee specific and standard position descriptions.

Evaluate Positions

Evaluates and determines the proper title, pay plan, occupational series, grade, supervisory, FLSA, position sensitivity, and bargaining unit classifications in the GS, and Wage Board pay plans; prepare evaluation statements documenting the basis for these determinations as needed and requested. Assists with conducting desk audits and similar efforts to collect relevant position information. Assists with responses to classification appeals by collecting relevant position information and providing classification analyses.

Hiring

  • Provides advice on alternative hiring mechanisms including specialized mechanisms for hiring disabled individuals and veterans and increasing the representation of under-represented ethnic groups. Analyzes positions, determine relevant competencies, basic qualification requirements, and specialized experience needed, assists in the development of comprehensive job analysis and tools to assess relevant qualifications of applicants, and assists with drafting assessment questions in concert with selecting official and subject matter specialists. Assists with vacancy announcements preparation that attract, appeal to, and are accessible to targeted types of potential candidates, using electronic staffing tool such as USA Staffing. Assesses the qualifications of candidates and determine relative rankings in accordance with Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and Agency policies and guidelines. Provides advice to selecting officials on policies and guidelines governing consideration and selection of candidates.

  • Completes related administrative requirements for record keeping.
  • Assist with timecard completion, corrections, and related communications
  • Demonstrate basic timekeeping functionality for supervisors and staff; clearly explain proper recording of hours worked and leave taken
  • Perform regular audits with an HR system
  • Generate standard reports from human capital management systems and summarize results
  • Complete verification of employments
  • Provide customer service to employee workforce
  • Assist new hire training, including document collection and account setup
  • Complete and track basic HR paperwork

Collateral Duties

Performs all other similar/related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
