What key skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Prop Player, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Prop Player, you need a solid understanding of poker strategy, mathematics, and game theory, typically supported by extensive playing experience. Familiarity with poker tracking software, online platforms, and sometimes casino procedures is important. Strong observational skills, discipline, and adaptability help Prop Players succeed in dynamic table environments. These abilities are crucial as they enable Prop Players to maintain game integrity, attract action, and optimize profitability for the casino or card room.

How does a Prop Player typically collaborate with casino staff and other players during their shifts?

As a Prop Player, you'll regularly interact with both casino staff and fellow players. You'll often work closely with floor supervisors and poker room managers to ensure games run smoothly and that tables remain active. Building rapport with other players is also essential, as your presence helps maintain a friendly and competitive atmosphere. Communication and adaptability are key, since you may need to switch tables or adjust your playing style based on the needs of the casino. This collaborative environment helps foster a positive experience for everyone involved.

What are prop players?

Prop players, short for proposition players, are individuals hired by casinos or card rooms to help start and maintain poker games. Their primary role is to sit at tables and play with their own money to ensure games stay active and appealing to other players. Prop players follow the house rules and are expected to play in a professional manner. They may receive an hourly wage or other incentives from the casino for their participation, but they are not allowed to collude or have any special advantages over other players.

Job description

Overview:

We design and build immersive, interactive sets and environments that transport guests to entirely new worlds-combining craftsmanship, storytelling, and technical precision to create unforgettable experiences in the entertainment and attractions industry.

As a Scenic Carpenter, you'll be part of a tight-knit fabrication team that turns design concepts into reality. From architectural set pieces and large-scale cabinets to finely crafted wooden props and specialty scenic elements, you'll build a wide variety of components that are both beautiful and functional. Every piece you create will be installed in a real-world interactive experience that thousands of guests will engage with firsthand.

This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment that rewards focus, pride in workmanship, and a shared commitment to delighting our guests. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with specialists in CNC machining, finishing, scenic painting, and technical effects-each playing a role in bringing complex, multi-layered environments to life. The people who thrive here are problem-solvers, collaborators, and mission-driven builders who find real meaning in delivering joy and awe through hands-on craftsmanship.

We're not just a woodshop-we're a hospitality-first company. If you believe that carpentry can be a vehicle for creativity, storytelling, and purpose, this could be the place you stay and grow

  • Component Finishing Prep - Collaborate with finishing and paint teams to ensure components are prepped and ready for downstream processes.
  • Material Handling & Tool Use - Operate saws, routers, drills, and other power tools safely and confidently in a busy production environment.
  • CNC Collaboration - Interface with CNC operators to fabricate, trim, and assemble routed components and pre-machined parts.
  • Inventory & Shop Support - Track part usage, request supply replenishment, and help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work alongside fabrication, paint, tech, and installation teams to ensure final product meets quality and performance goals.

  • Team Player - Works well in a fast-paced team environment; willing to jump in and help (even if it means sweeping floors or packing trucks).
  • Attention to Detail - Takes pride in clean work, accurate dimensions, and guest-ready finishes.
