Prop Manager information

Do property managers make money?

Property managers typically earn a salary or a combination of salary and commissions based on the properties they oversee. Their income depends on factors such as experience, location, property size, and the number of units managed. Many property managers also receive bonuses or incentives for performance and tenant retention.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Prop Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Prop Manager, you need knowledge of theatre production processes, organization, budgeting, and a background in stagecraft or related fields. Familiarity with inventory management systems, basic carpentry tools, and safety certifications are typically used in the role. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication help manage prop logistics and collaborate with directors and crew. These skills ensure that productions run smoothly, props are safe and appropriate, and creative visions are realized on stage or screen.

What are some common challenges a Prop Manager faces when coordinating with multiple departments during a production?

Prop Managers often juggle requests from directors, designers, and actors while ensuring that props meet artistic vision, safety standards, and logistical deadlines. Balancing these demands requires strong communication skills and adaptability, as last-minute changes are common and can impact the overall flow of production. Effective Prop Managers build strong relationships with set designers, stage managers, and technical crews to anticipate needs, solve problems quickly, and keep the production running smoothly.

What are Prop Managers?

Prop Managers, also known as property managers, are professionals responsible for overseeing and managing real estate properties on behalf of owners. Their duties typically include handling tenant relations, collecting rent, coordinating maintenance and repairs, and ensuring the property complies with relevant laws and regulations. They act as the main point of contact between property owners and tenants and often manage multiple properties at once. Prop Managers help maximize the value of real estate investments by maintaining high occupancy rates and addressing issues promptly.

What exactly does a property manager do?

A property manager oversees the daily operations of real estate properties, including maintenance, tenant relations, rent collection, and ensuring compliance with laws. They coordinate repairs, handle leasing, and may use property management software to track tasks and finances.

How much do property managers make per property?

Property managers typically earn a percentage of the rental income or a flat fee per property, often ranging from 8% to 12% of monthly rent. The exact amount depends on the property's size, location, and the scope of management services provided.

What type of property manager makes the most money?

Senior commercial property managers or those overseeing large portfolios tend to earn the highest salaries among property management roles. Factors such as experience, certifications, and the size and location of the properties managed also influence earning potential.

Job Description
The Team
We are seeking an Associate Property Manager to join American Tower's Property Management organization's Real Estate Management team. The team maximizes and protects the value of the real estate portfolio, owns and streamlines relations with property owners, and ensures all properties operate smoothly. Day to day you will focus on an assigned group of assets or functions and serve as the primary interface and facilitator of all engagements, issues, and projects on the properties under your purview.
As an Associate Property Manager, you will partner cross-functionally with peers in the Property Management, Legal, Finance, Operations, and Sales departments and, where applicable, with external vendors to support the resolution of property owner matters. You will utilize strong project management and customer service skills to ensure all property needs are addressed timely and completely to deliver results for the property owner and in American Tower's best interest.
Responsibilities
What You Can Offer Us
  • Triage document requests to the appropriate teams within Property Management.
  • Assess and resolve landlord inquiries within established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Collaborate with Operations, Legal, Finance, and Commercial teams and, where applicable, with external vendors to support end-to-end land operations and/or property payment processes.
  • Create and manage documents for landowner interactions and triage to the appropriate internal teams.
  • Intake and resolve low to medium complexity property owner relations concerns that do not require escalation or approval from key internal stakeholders, and route higher complexity issues to the correct internal teams.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in processes and partner with management to build efficiencies and redefine process documents.
  • Support vendor performance management, where applicable, to drive standardized, efficient transactions that maximize value, service quality, and cost optimization aligned with American Tower's priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
What You Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required, with a concentration in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Law, or related field preferred.
  • Between 2-4 years of project, deal, or transaction support experience in a high-volume environment required.
  • Proven track record of delivering exemplary customer service and the ability to successfully manage projects strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Oracle, and Salesforce systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience with interpreting legal documents, including real estate leases and contracts preferred.
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred.
  • Telecommunications industry experience preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
