Job description

United Dairy Farmers is seeking a Bakery Production Lead, 1st shift, for the Bakery located in Blue Ash, OH. This position is an integral part of the bakery production team, working to maximize the effectiveness, compliance, and day to day production function of the bakery with a lead by example mindset. The role will assist the operations supervisor with all operational production site functions as they relate to the manufacture of donut and bakery products. The Bakery Production Lead will perform the necessary activities related to the timely manufacture of the donut bakery's finished goods, the picking of all bakery and fresh product orders, loading of trucks, dispatch of routes and cleaning and sanitation of all equipment and plant.

  • Be a positive role model to all associates through your words, actions and appearance, and lead by example mindset. Must work with a purpose, set, meet and exceed the production goals on a daily basis.
  • Organize, maintain, and operate all production and picking areas throughout the production packing and picking processes in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Provide and support the SAFE /Quality training of all associates in the mixing, sheeting, proofing, frying, production, icing, decorating, oven baking, flow wrapping packaged products and picking functional areas of the bakery, provide guidance to any associate that may require assistance performing tasks assigned.
  • Ensure that all HACCP and CCP guidelines as established by QA are followed and all employees understand what is expected.
  • Assist the supervisor in the start of the shift and pass out all job assignments for the day if and when call out absences occur. Follow but adjust if needed posted work schedules in designated areas for employee access
  • Ensure all production and sanitation areas are maintained organized and clean at all times.
  • Ensure production associates put away all ingredient materials to their assigned area in the proper assigned designated locations
  • Ensure that dough mixer associate maintains proper batch and temperature recording sheets, follows batching process as outlined, and ensures an uninterrupted supply of raw dough to the sheeter operation for a continuous production flow
  • Make sure that all material requests by work stations are pulled correctly and delivered in a timely manner to keep a continuous production flow.
  • Complete all required WO (work orders) through accurate reporting of production counts and labor utilized.
  • "Trouble Shoot" operational distress pertaining to area workloads and monitor production associates and processes to ensure assigned job tasks are completed and followed, are on time, escalating any non-resolved issues to operations supervisor so that appropriate action is addressed. If associate is not performing to time standards, communicate and monitor until times are met.
  • Be able and willing to perform (SET THE EXAMPLE) of any/all job duties within the production/picking operation, be knowledgeable in all areas of product quality, adhere to SOP's and enforce all quality and HACCP standards.
  • Ensure the proper set up and operational readiness of all production equipment, including mixers, sheeter, proofer, fryer, glazer, icers, oven, flow wrapper, and decoration stations.
  • Print off all pick sheets for donuts and fresh items and distribute accordingly to assigned order pickers to meet BRT's ( bakery ready time).
  • Attend the daily KPI and performance board each morning
  • Participate in the daily Bakery Plant Leadership 6S walk
  • Attended and participate in F2F meetings with associates, communicating performance measure achieved from the previous day and the expectations of the current day.
  • Work with internal cross functional teams in process improvements related to operational process control
  • Support and help resolve Quality problems as communicated from QA team members
  • Oversee through effective supervision, dough mixing, sheeting, proofing, frying, glazing, filling, icing, decorating, baking, flow wrapping, packing and picking of all manufactured and fresh products.
  • Ensure the loading of delivery trucks is conducted per SOP's in the proper load sequence based on routing requirements and dispatch time.
  • Ensure truck cleanliness is maintained and trucks get cleaned on a routine schedule
  • Utilizing lead skills, work across all functions and levels of the bakery operation, effectively ensuring and role modeling high performance standards as related to the production, appearance, and quality of all finished goods.
  • Ensure that plant equipment cleaning and sanitation is performed and meeting operational expectations and compliance as established in SOP's.
  • Ensure that Fresh minimum shelf life standards to stores is being met through proper date coding of all picked items in accordance to established minimum shelf life store expectations.
  • Ensure any rework of raw materials and finished goods is conducted as outlined in the product defect specifications
  • Enforce all employee GMP adherence policies and procedures.
  • Communicate any employee attendance call out to operations supervisor/
  • Report any associate performance issue to operations supervisor.
  • Any and all other reasonable job duties as assigned by management
