Job description

Location: Onsite - Huntsville, AL 

Opportunity

This position is based at the Kohler facility in Huntsville, Alabama.  This manufacturing facility produces Sterling Vikrell and Kohler Choreograph Bathing & Showering products.  As a Kohler Co. Staff Engineer, you will take ownership of managing and improving assigned plant processes to support plant strategic goals of those processes.  You will continuously drive to keep assigned manufacturing processes as current and efficient as possible, especially regarding process equipment, systems, and software. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve as needed process specifications, operating procedures, process controls, etc. to help meet and exceed safety, quality, cost, production, and other plant objectives for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Maintain and optimize plant engineering standards, including system maintenance of production routings, BOM standards, etc. in assigned area of responsibility.  Perform time studies of manufacturing processes to be included in the determination of validating manufacturing labor standards.
  • Provide technical support, as required, to ensure plant equipment and processes are operating, optimized, and meet all applicable safety standards, including process troubleshooting as required.
  • Research and evaluate new and existing processes, operations, and support systems for adaptation and/or improvements needed to manufacture Kohler and Sterling products to meet all objectives and improve the overall customer experience. 
  • Provide digital/CAD support for layouts and work center designs. 
  • Manage the installation, commissioning, and validation of new capital process equipment or equipment modifications in area of responsibility at the Huntsville facility. 
  • Provide engineering support and project management relative to assigned new products and process implementation and process improvements.
  • Implement cost reduction initiatives using Lean manufacturing techniques, including Kaizen events, etc. 
  • Implement error proofing solutions that are integrated into the production line or manufacturing process control systems, such as the integration of cameras, laser sensors, in-process/post process gage systems, data collection, etc.
  •   
  • Conduct feasibility studies to ensure that implementation of recommended improvements would meet objectives with respect to safety, quality, market demands, competitive costs, and general financial criteria.
  •  
  • Work with maintenance team to maintain and update spare parts strategy, recommended preventative maintenance and frequency, etc., for process equipment. Â
