The Job The Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures is seeking a dedicated Agricultural/Standards Technician to support a variety of regulatory and field operations. This position is responsible for conducting weed control activities, performing laboratory tests on commercial measuring devices, verifying pricing accuracy at retail locations, and assisting with other essential departmental functions. Physical Requirements: Incumbents must be able to occasionally lift seventy (70) pounds in addition to walking, stooping and bending. Travel/License: A valid California Class C Driver's License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position.

Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained. Incumbents must possess a Tanker endorsement with their qualifying Class A or Class B license within six (6) months of employment, and must possess and maintain a Qualified Applicator license or certificate in the Right-of-Way category within one (1) year of employment or be terminated. Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider to candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future.

Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment. Minimum Requirements License: A valid California Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Applicants who possess only a California Class C driver's license do not meet the minimum qualifications and will NOT be considered for this position. There are no substitutions for the required Class A or Class B license.

Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following: Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment and a practical understanding of equipment maintenance and mechanical systems. A valid Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. Six (6) months of experience performing professional pest control, vegetation management, or weed eradication activities.
