Title: Student Success Advisor

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for tracking and assisting students by providing holistic services from pre-enrollment to completion for a defined set of students with a primary goal of assisting them with overcoming barriers to their success in college.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build relationships with students to achieve their identified goals and objects. Review student progress and track student use of academic support services. Assist students in identifying factors that contribute to lack of academic progress, help students examine alternatives, and apply appropriate retention strategies to support students' efforts. Strategize with faculty and other college staff as needed to improve support student success. Maintain accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs.

Support annual recruitment of new students. Create and conduct training sessions/workshops for students, faculty and staff. Assist with a developing and implementing a variety of institutional retention activities. Participate in new student orientation and first year experience activities. Utilize an SIS student records system and be able to function within a computerized office environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Two years' experience delivering direct support/services to students in a higher education setting with a wide-ranging student body

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree from an accredited institution

Bilingual fluency in English and Arabic or Spanish

Prior work experience at a community college

Prior academic advising or student success coaching experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to manage a caseload system of advising. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage competing tasks and priorities while maintaining complete and accurate records. Proficient Microsoft Office and database management skills. Ability to build effective working relationship at all levels across the organization. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a varied community.

Rate of Pay: $44,148.00 to $55,185.00 annually, depending on experience
