Frontier Tutoring is how Alaskans get ahead. Founded in 2008 by UAA students, Frontier Tutoring today is the largest Alaska-based educational services brand, serving students from our center in Anchorage. Through our academic tutoring, SAT/ACT prep, and college admissions consulting programs, we are uniquely positioned to empower our students to succeed at every stage of their journey from middle and high school to the college of their choice.
Typical Responsibilities
Reports To: Executive Director
  • Through training, master the essentials of testing and college admissions strategy
  • Serve as the Student Success Manager for a cohort of students, where you will manage student outcomes (e.g., SAT/ACT score improvement), drive instructor procedural execution and student engagement, and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Meet or exceed a monthly revenue generation standard by deploying your testing and college admissions expertise to:
    • Recommend additional Frontier Tutoring programs to existing students, as appropriate, based on their college admissions or scholarship goals
    • Follow up with parents of students who have participated in our free practice SAT/ACT events and demonstrate a need to improve their scores relative to their college admissions or scholarship goals
    • Engage with prospective customers who contact our office with questions
  • Train, develop, engage, and manage the performance of a group of Tutoring Specialists as their Team Lead
  • Represent Frontier Tutoring as a marketing ambassador by meeting with school staff to educate them on our free and paid programs, managing practice SAT/ACT events, delivering school presentations and workshops, and/or serving on community boards or committees
  • Provide other management/operational/analytical support and work on special projects, as required and based on your professional interests
  • If you have established subject matter expertise and an interest in working directly with students, up to 25% of your time may be allocated to billable educational service delivery (e.g., providing academic tutoring, serving as an SAT/ACT prep instructor, providing college admissions counseling services, etc.), for which you will receive company training

Critical Qualities, Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 1 year of business, sales, or operational leadership experience
  • Ability to master the fundamentals of test prep and college admissions strategy through training
  • Willingness to generate sales by recommending products to empower students to achieve their college admissions and scholarship goals
  • Interest in student success
  • Be a friendly people person - able to quickly establish rapport with colleagues, customers, prospects, and students
  • Demonstrated ability to lead other team members
  • Willingness to work limited evenings and some weekends (schedules are set well in advance, take into account individual preferences, and feature flexibility in general work hours/location)
  • High degree of computer literacy and ability to quickly master multiple software programs
