Job description

Nursing Assistant Trainee

As our Nursing Assistant (NA), you will perform essential direct patient care, working under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse, often while actively pursuing your Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. Every day you will provide comprehensive patient care, including bathing, oral care, feeding, ambulation, and monitoring vital signs. You will also manage other duties such as inventory, documentation, clerical tasks, dietary assistance, light housekeeping, and computer input, directly supporting the nursing unit's operational needs. To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong capability for basic patient care, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in all tasks, and effectively collaborate within the nursing team to ensure optimal patient well-being and a supportive care environment, showcasing dedication to advancing your healthcare career.

  • Transports patients to and from nursing units and ancillary departments in a manner conducive to patient safety and comfort.
  • Assists, under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider, with lifting, turning and transporting patients.
  • Performs housekeeping duties associated with a clean environment for patient care; restocks supplies/linens; empties trash/linen; strips rooms prior to EVS activity.
  • Assists with cleaning and stocking of department equipment and related maintenance.
  • Performs clerical work and light office tasks, including packaging patient education materials, assembling FIT test, etc.; provides data entry support; assists with projects as assigned.
  • Provides support for inpatient floors; sits a patient bedside for purposes of general visitation and non-clinical assistance; transports urgent specimens; serves as unit access screener; hand hygiene audits.

Required

Education and Experience:

  • Any combination of experience and education that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge and/or abilities, including interest in a potential career in healthcare.
  • Enrollment in accredited Certified Nursing Assistant training program, 6 - months and
  • Must obtain Nursing Assistance Registration once enrolled in an accredited program.
