Job description

Senior Infrastructure Project Manager
Location: Dallas, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Phoenix, AZ
Contract: W2 only
Overview
This position involves leading end-to-end infrastructure projects, including data center migration and infrastructure expansion, with a focus on detailed planning, technical issue resolution, and cross-team coordination. The role requires a highly technical infrastructure delivery manager with extensive hands-on experience in building and supporting virtual services, configuring hardware, and managing infrastructure deployments from planning through implementation and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create and drive a detailed work breakdown structure that outlines all of the tasks required for delivery and highlights dependencies, ownership, and committed task durations. Keep the plan current and frequently review it with the project team.
  • Communicate technical issues that are impeding their project, what actions are required, and who is taking the actions.
  • Analyze impacts to project timeliness and make recommendations and decisions on how to adjust the timeline or remediate the issue with the least amount of impact.
  • Host regular project meetings with the impacted team members, publish meeting minutes, capture action items, follow up on deliverables, and escalate issues that surface.
  • Build collaborative relationships with the technical and application resources assigned to the project.
  • Negotiate delivery date for each task ensuring it aligns to SLAs and overall project timeline.
  • Understand how delays may impact the overall project and provide escalation where there are impacts to the project timeline.
  • Understand how planned and unplanned change control windows will impact the project timeline and determine if changes should be escalated for approvals to proceed or be rescheduled.
  • Understand technology strategies to help facilitate design and delivery discussions and to keep current with enterprise standard practices, processes, and policies (example: cloud, DBaaS, data center strategy, end of life technology).
  • Manage coordination of delivery and dependencies across multiple teams.
  • Provide end-to-end visibility into the health of the deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence with enterprise change management standards.
Required Skills
  • 10+ years experience in infrastructure project management, specifically managing the delivery and build of servers (physical and virtual), database, and network components.
  • Ability to facilitate and manage multiple infrastructure delivery projects proficiently.
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible to assist team members as needed.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead complex projects and/or programs.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Jira, Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proactive engagement with business and technology leaders.
  • Ability to lead meetings, follow up on deliverables, negotiate, and resolve ambiguity.
  • Enjoys working with multiple technical, operations, and business partners.
Preferred Skills
  • Midrange server / network infrastructure project delivery experience.
  • Experience with Jira in managing projects through deliverables, epics, stories, and cross-dependencies.
  • Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall methodology environments.
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting virtual services, configuring storage, racking, and stacking hardware, and understanding server architecture.
  • Experience with data center deployments, network engineering, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
