Job DescriptionOverview

AtkinsRealis is seeking a Project Quality Manager to join our team in New York, NY. Under limited supervision, the ideal candidate for this position applies technical proficiency to solutions for architectural problems and the coordination of related project activities. This position also supports Business Development and presentation efforts in securing and advancing new projects.

Your role
  • Develop and implement project Quality Plans (QPs) by thoroughly reviewing project requirements, aligning them with corporate quality standards, and ensuring all project team members understand how the QP applies to their scope of work.

  • Review contracts in partnership with the Project Manager and Project Technical Leads (PTLs) to identify quality-related deliverables, clarify expectations, and ensure the project's quality approach is embedded early in the project lifecycle.

  • Analyze Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) plans submitted by subconsultants to confirm they meet AtkinsRealis US requirements and the project-specific QP, recommending adjustments where gaps or inconsistencies are identified.

  • Conduct detailed quality assurance reviews of work products and certify that all deliverables fully comply with the project's Quality Plan prior to client submission.

  • Lead required subconsultant quality assessments to validate their adherence to project and corporate quality standards, documenting findings and following up on required corrective actions.

  • Auditing, Documentation & Reporting Updated March 2026 Participate in client- or owner-led external audits, providing project documentation, responding to inquiries, and representing the project's quality processes.

  • Document all project non-conformances identified against the Company Management System (CMS) and ensure issues are tracked, communicated, and resolved in alignment with corporate procedures.

  • Approve and confirm completion of preventive and corrective actions, verifying that all steps have been implemented effectively and that recurring issues are addressed holistically rather than symptomatically.

  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive quality documentation, including reports, logs, trackers, and project quality bulletins, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and accessible to project stakeholders.

  • Report all quality-related events, including near misses and incidents, to appropriate internal stakeholders and maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts by contributing insights, participating in discussions, and helping project teams identify opportunities to enhance processes and outcomes.

  • Train project teams on AtkinsRealis US quality requirements, project-specific procedures, and client-driven expectations, ensuring that all participants understand their quality responsibilities throughout the lifecycle of the project.

  • Provide ongoing quality management consultation and direction to project design consultants, construction management teams, sub-consultants, and supplier/contractor organizations to support consistent application of quality standards across all disciplines.

  • Guide multidisciplinary project teams and emerging quality professionals, helping them navigate corporate processes, understand project constraints, and develop strong quality-focused decision-making skills.

  • Participate in quality-related discussions and assist in problem-solving when quality events or issues emerge, collaborating with technical and management teams to determine solutions.

  • Ensure effective use of digital quality tools throughout the project, helping teams adopt technology to improve accuracy, documentation quality, and compliance.

  • Store all quality-related documentation in project directories using standardized structure and naming conventions to maintain organization and traceability.

  • Recommend system improvements and implement required corporate updates, ensuring project teams remain aligned with evolving quality processes and tools.

  • Communicate quality issues, concerns, and emerging risks to Senior Project Quality Managers or the Quality Group in a timely, clear, and actionable manner.

  • Coordinate and interface regularly with senior project managers, technical managers, senior technical professionals, project teams, and senior quality managers to ensure alignment on project quality expectations.

  • Attend meetings with clients, subconsultant leaders, and contractor teams, representing the project's quality approach, documenting feedback, and ensuring that stakeholder expectations are understood and incorporated into project execution.

About you
  • 3-7 years of experience in quality auditing (preferred).

  • 3-7 years of QC/QA experience (preferred).

  • Bachelor's degree or five years of experience in engineering, business, architecture, or a science-related field.

  • Proficiency with ProjectWise, Bluebeam, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

  • Analytical, detail-oriented, confident, and persistent.

  • Leadership and management capabilities.

  • Ability to conduct and develop training.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001.

  • No registration required; however, preferred certifications include: American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification as a quality auditor and ASQ certification as manager of quality/organization excellence.
