CIVIL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER


Landmark Solutions Ltd. (Landmark) is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Project Manager to join our growing Construction team, with opportunities to grow across Landmark's Construction and other business sectors. This role is intended for a practical construction professional who can lead civil and infrastructure projects from planning through close-out, with strong ownership of safety, cost, schedule, quality, productivity, contracts, and client relationships. The successful candidate will work closely with construction leaders, field teams, estimators, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors across a diverse portfolio that may include bridges, water infrastructure, marine works, earthworks, utilities, and other civil construction.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Civil Construction Project Manager is an integral part of the Landmark team and is responsible for successful project delivery from award through completion and close-out. This role combines project planning, financial management, scheduling, contract administration, resource coordination, field leadership, and client communication. The position is based in Salmon Arm, with regular travel to project sites throughout Western Canada and shift-based site assignments as required. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead projects with safety as a core priority and ensure Landmark health, safety, environmental, quality, and project-management systems are effectively implemented.
  • Take ownership of project outcomes, including safety, financial performance, schedule, productivity, quality, contractual compliance, and client satisfaction.
  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, estimates, schedules, and tender assumptions at project handover and translate them into an effective Project Execution Plan.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, cash-flow awareness, commitments, productivity tracking, and estimate-at-completion reporting.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules, resource-loaded lookaheads, critical-path activities, and recovery plans where required.
  • Coordinate Landmark crews, subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, materials, and other project resources to meet project objectives.
  • Identify and manage project risks, opportunities, scope changes, delays, claims, notices, and commercial issues in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare and manage change orders, pricing, progress claims, forecasts, project reporting, and supporting documentation.
  • Lead project, site, subcontractor, and client meetings and ensure decisions, commitments, risks, and follow-up actions are clearly documented.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, regulators, and internal teams.
  • Ensure project records, drawings, correspondence, field documentation, quality records, and contract administration are accurate and current.
  • Support procurement of materials, subcontracted work, and project services in coordination with Landmark teams.
  • Work closely with Estimating and Construction teams during project handover, execution, close-out, and lessons-learned reviews.
  • Provide practical leadership to project teams, resolve issues proactively, and escalate material risks or decisions when required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive construction experience, including direct responsibility for managing civil, infrastructure, industrial, or comparable contractor-side projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project cost, schedule, contracts, subcontractors, field execution, reporting, and client relationships.
  • Practical knowledge of civil construction methods, sequencing, equipment, crews, productivity, constructability, and site execution.
  • Experience with bridges, stream restoration including rip rap placement, marine works, earthworks, retaining walls-Arches MSE/GRS, utilities, roadwork, concrete, or comparable infrastructure is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, tender documents, contracts, subcontracts, change management, and project risk.
  • Familiarity with Canadian or comparable North American civil construction practices, including contract administration, labour/equipment costing, subcontractor management, safety requirements, and commercial expectations.
  • Knowledge of MoTT, MMCD, CCDC, or similar contract and specification frameworks is considered an asset.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to monitor budgets, forecasts, productivity, commitments, changes, and project performance.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple workstreams, and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, build positive working relationships, resolve conflict, and communicate professionally with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment while collaborating effectively with field, estimating, accounting, safety, and leadership teams.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, environmental responsibility, quality, and professional project delivery.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with construction project-management, scheduling, cost-control, or ERP software is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving record and the confidence to drive safely in a variety of road conditions.
  • Projects are located throughout Western Canada; candidates must be willing to travel to project sites and work shift-based schedules when required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PATHWAYS

Landmark values practical construction knowledge and recognizes that strong project managers enter the profession through different pathways. Candidates may qualify through either:

  • Post-secondary education in construction management, civil engineering technology, engineering, business or a related discipline, together with relevant civil construction experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of substantial civil construction field, trade, supervisory superintendent coordinator, or project management experience


Experienced civil construction professionals who progressed into project management through field, supervisory or construction leadership roles are encouraged to apply.
