Job Summary:

The Carpenter works under the direction of the Project Manager to meet the project’s expected goals. The Carpenter will work in the warehouse and on-site, depending on the work being completed. Carpenters implement scopes of work that adhere to the quality standards of Downs Construction.


Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining professionalism and presenting Downs Construction positively to various stakeholders
  • Interpreting and creating comprehensive scopes of work
  • Demonstrating skill in the safe operation of tools and equipment
  • Following all company policies and standards
  • Completing all necessary documentation
  • Coaching, assisting, and delegating tasks to labourers and sub trades
  • Practicing good housekeeping on the job and in the warehouse
  • Dealing with a changing work environment daily
  • Understanding different municipal and provincial building code requirements
  • Completing jobs in an efficient and timely manner

Compensation

Wage: $27.00 - $39.00 per hour (based on experience)

Requirements:
  • Certified Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) or work experience equivalent
  • Must have a valid BC driver’s license, preferably class 5
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check to our approval
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Ability to work well alone as well as in a team environment
  • Practical knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance is preferred
  • Practical knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures is preferred
  • Willing and able to work on-call for after-hours emergency work
  • Experience in the restoration industry is considered to be an asset
  • Strong customer service skills
