Position Summary:

Earthtone Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to provide strategic leadership while remaining actively involved in project execution.


This is not a traditional office-only management position. We are looking for a leader who enjoys being hands-on, successfully managing 2–3 active commercial construction projects, while mentoring and developing the next generation of Project Managers.


The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering successful commercial construction projects, building strong client relationships, improving operational processes, and developing high-performing teams. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to the COO and Executive Team by helping strengthen project execution, financial performance, and operational excellence across the organization.


This position is ideal for someone who wants to have a meaningful impact not only on projects, but on the people and systems that drive Earthtone Construction's continued growth.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Personally manage 2–3 active commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and execution.
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Review contracts, scopes of work, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, quality, and profitability.
  • Identify project risks early and implement proactive solutions.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Earthtone Construction's quality standards.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor, coach, and develop Project Managers and Project Engineers.
  • Serve as the primary technical and operational resource for project teams.
  • Provide guidance on complex project challenges, contract administration, financial management, scheduling, and client communications.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new Project Managers.
  • Promote accountability while fostering professional growth and career development.
  • Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement throughout the Operations team.

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee multiple active projects while ensuring consistency in project execution.
  • Review project financials, forecasts, budgets, and WIP reports.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and project management processes.
  • Assist with estimating, budgeting, and preconstruction planning when needed.
  • Support company initiatives that improve project delivery, communication, and operational performance.
  • Help establish and maintain project management standards and best practices across the organization.

Financial Management

  • Review budgets, cost reports, forecasts, billings, and cash flow.
  • Monitor project profitability and implement corrective action when necessary.
  • Identify financial risks early and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting throughout the life of every project.

Client & Business Development

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Represent Earthtone Construction with professionalism and integrity.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat business and new project opportunities.
  • Assist with business development efforts and strategic client relationships when appropriate.

Safety & Quality

  • Champion Earthtone Construction's safety culture.
  • Ensure OSHA and company safety standards are consistently followed.
  • Conduct periodic project audits and jobsite visits.
  • Promote quality workmanship and continuous improvement across all projects.

Executive Leadership

  • Provide regular project updates and strategic recommendations to the COO and Executive Team.
  • Participate in operational planning, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Assist leadership with long-term planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote and model Earthtone Construction's values, culture, and leadership expectations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Mentor and oversee assigned Project Managers.
  • Supervise Project Engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with Superintendents and field leadership.
  • Conduct performance coaching and one-on-one meetings.
  • Assist in identifying future leaders within the Operations team.


Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage 2–3 active projects while providing leadership and support to other Project Managers.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing Project Managers and Project Engineers.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction financial management, forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, and cost controls.
  • Experience leading project teams through all phases of construction.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively with owners, executives, architects, consultants, and internal leadership.
  • Experience implementing or improving project management processes, workflows, and operational efficiencies.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while balancing competing priorities.
  • Excellent relationship-building and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial construction means and methods from site development through project closeout.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with negotiated and design-build projects.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
